Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the Government of Kazakhstan was interested in pursuing cooperation in various sectors, including energy, and expressed his administration’s commitment to creating “all conditions” for “such initiatives to be as successful as possible”.
Kobakhidze concluded his two-day visit to Kazakhstan by meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev earlier today to discuss bilateral relations.
He told the media in Almaty that Kazakhstan was a “very important” political and economic partner for Georgia.
We have an ambitious goal to maximally restore our country’s historic function, which is to connect Europe and Asia, bridging East and West. In this context, cooperation with Kazakhstan is of strategic importance to us”, he said.
Our discussions encompassed various topics related to political and economic cooperation. This visit will enhance our mutual interests and enable the execution of specific projects”, Kobakhidze added.
The Prime Minister noted ongoing and “successful projects” stemming from Kazakh investments in Georgia, highlighting the need for continued cooperation in diverse sectors.
The contributions of Kazakh investors, among others, are extremely important to us. We have several successful projects in Georgia that are being carried out through our joint efforts, and there is a strong interest in expanding our collaboration across various sectors, including energy”, he said.
Kobakhidze started his official visit to Kazakhstan on Wednesday, meeting with his counterpart, Oljas Bektenov.
